Use a foundation brush, sponge or clean fingertips (I would recommend a foundation brush) to apply foundation evenly to your cheeks, chin, forehead and nose. Then blend the foundation in with long light strokes.

Keep on making light strokes over the jawline down to your neck to get a natural texture with no visible lines between two strokes. Now check your face and neck in natural light to see that the foundation is well blended.

If the under eye circles or red spots are still visible then don’t add more foundation as this will make your lids look heavy and curdled. To avoid this and yet have your under eye circles and red spots well covered, use a concealer instead.

Tip
It is very important for you to choose the foundation that compliments your skin tone. When you are testing out shades, make sure to pick out a shade that matches the colour of your jawline exactly. It is better to use a mirror outdoor to see how the shade looks in natural light.

Always start by using a small amount of foundation and gradually increase the amount depending upon how much you want to cover your skin. Remember blending tactfully is the key.

For day make-up, mix your foundation with a moisturizer having at least 15 SPF. For women above 30 a moisturizer with an SPF of 30 is essential.
